Good Health for African Americans by Barbara M. Dixon is an informative, straightforward read about the health risks that have become more prevalent among African-American inner-city communities.  Dixon addresses how these risks are attributed to more than just a poor diet, but can also be linked to conditions like stress or depression.  On a more positive note, she also explains the connection between our diet and our cultural history.  Though published in 1995, this book provides some helpful insight into how we can make small changes in our daily lives to combat the risks that still threaten our communities to this day.  Available at amazon.com
